AT YOUR SERVICE
Providing invaluable help to departments across the entire GI organisation, People Services continues to go from strength to strength
People Services was launched in January 2019 with the aim of looking after the day-to-day transactional requirements within the HR department. A three-person team consisting of Margaret Kenna, Emma Tector and Stephen Hickey, People Services takes care of the vital everyday elements of HR, allowing HRBP’s to focus on the more strategic elements of their role. Since its launch in 2019, uptake in the service has grown with more people utilising and availing of the essential help it provides, such as support on maternity or paternity leave forms, salary certificates, letters for banks, bike to work queries, first line support on PDPs or general HR policies.
Emma Tector began her career with Glanbia Ireland in September 2019. Currently part of the graduate programme, she will continue her role in People Services when the programme finishes in September. “I had six months in the office before Covid hit and I’ve been at home for a year now. I found working from home difficult initially, but I’ve completely adjusted now. It’ll be an adjustment to go back into the office when the time comes!” in 2020, 99% of all queries sent to People Services were dealt with within our targeted timeframe of 48 hours. “We also had a same-day resolution rate of over 98% of all queries. We’re constantly focused on providing a high level of customer care to all employees.”
Reporting has also become a major element of People Services. “We’ve taken on responsibility for data analytics and reporting so we’re able to provide information to the wider HR team along with the finance, growth and operations teams. That info is essential in allowing those teams to be more strategic in their decision-making,” says Margaret. Margaret has been with Glanbia Ireland for almost 43 years. “I’ve worked in payroll, HR in Agri-Business and I was a HR administrator with Ingredients for 10 years. Those experiences have definitely informed my current role in People Services and have given me an overall view of the entire organisation.” In all her years at Glanbia, Margaret has never experienced anything like Covid and the effects it has had on working life. “It has been exceptional, but I think everyone has transitioned very well. It’s amazing what IT can do. I think that’s the biggest change I’ve seen throughout my years at Glanbia, the effects of technology on the organisation.”
Since its launch, People Services has made its mark on the overall Glanbia Ireland organisation and will continue to develop the service in the coming years. Growth plans include increasing the number of queries and interactions with staff, whilst maintaining the same high standards and customer service levels that the service has adhered to so far. In 2020, People Services dealt with over 7,800 queries and over 1,000 members of the Glanbia Ireland team, both of which are increases on its 2019 numbers. The team is hoping to surpass those numbers again in 2021.
