Glanbia Direct – a game changer for GI customers

2020 saw the rate of digital adoption quicken. Collaboration tools for work were embraced, e-commerce has grown in importance and the amount of time spent online and on screens in general, has risen significantly. According to Google, the pace of change accelerated so much that, in the last six months alone, we have experienced 10 years’ worth of change. In that same brief time span, we have seen businesses embrace digital transformation and thrive.

Earlier this year, as part of our digital transformation journey, we launched Glanbia

Direct, our online sales platform for B2B food ingredients. Glanbia Direct gives customers 24/7 access to our primary ingredient portfolio where they can submit bids anonymously, view other bids and get quick, real time market pricing. It also simplifies the sales process in the commodity sector and provides customers with a fast and easy way to source their ingredient needs from us.

Since launching at the end of March, over 5,000 tonnes of ingredients such as skim milk powder, butter, lactose and casein have been sold through the platform, delivering over €11.5 million in sales revenue. Given the role that digital and technology now play in global commodity buying, Glanbia Direct places us at the forefront of today’s trading world. It offers us a branded platform that provides full control over what is offered, when and to whom.
