Market Focus … FFMP
Glanbia Ireland is one of the largest producers of Fat Filled Milk Powder (FFMP) in Europe. FFMP is a blend of skim solids and vegetable fat in powdered form and is designed to offer an affordable alternative source of dairy nutrition without compromising on taste and texture. Right now, the Middle East and Africa region is the most important destination for the FFMP category and has seen significant growth on imports over the last five years.
Millac
Our Millac brand is renowned for its quality and has a long history in key FFMP markets. Millac Premium is our flagship powder and is used in a range of applications across a number of sectors. The Glanbia Ireland Commercial Team has worked closely with Innovation to improve the yogurt properties of Millac, a collaboration which has resulted in producing a better yield for the same amount of powder compared to whole milk powder or competing FFMP producers, as illustrated by the chart.
Winning new markets – Sudan and the Dal Group
2020 has been a successful year in winning new markets. We broke into the Sudanese market for the first time through the Dal Group and will deliver approximately 2,000mt of FFMP by the end of the year. The Dal Group is the largest business conglomerate in Sudan with interests in sectors like food and beverages, agriculture and education. Dal Dairy Factory was established in 1997 and is the largest producer of UHT milk, yogurt and repacked milk powders. They also have the largest dairy herd in Sudan with approximately 5,000 cows and repackage FFMP for tea and coffee manufacturers and for use in yogurt manufacturing under the Capo brand.
